Thursday, October 10th, 2019

San Francisco is one of those cities that you can just fall in love with and want to return to again and again. There are always new and exciting places to go and things to explore. It’s difficult to narrow down but we’ve put together our top RV road trips in the San Fran area. These trips cover a little bit of everything for those of us that can’t decide what we want to do. So grab your San Francisco RV rental and get exploring.

San Francisco

Starting the trip in San Francisco gives you the opportunity to bask in the city lights, enjoy some music, see the big sights like Alcatraz, Fisherman’s Wharf, ride a trolley car and check out the Golden Gate Park and the Golden Gate Bridge.

Napa Valley

After dancing the night away in San Fran, head over to Napa Valley and taste the exquisite wine of the valley. And the best part is, you won’t have to go far when you’re in need of a nap because you have your San Francisco RV rental. If you’re looking to stretch your legs, the golf courses are a fun activity. These go great with the local distilleries and craft breweries as well.

Fort Bragg

Once you’ve had your taste of Napa, head down for some real relaxation and check out Glass Beach in Fort Bragg. If you’re up for a history lesson the Sea Glass Museum is a stop not to be missed. And if you’re looking to switch from tasting wine to smelling flowers, the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens are sure to please.

Muir Woods

After all of the relaxation and sightseeing, it’s time to get some exercise. So head out to the Redwoods and stretch your neck to check out some seriously tall trees and immerse yourself in nature for a few days. It’s amazing where you can go in your San Francisco RV rental.

Hopefully, this has got you California dreaming and itching to take that next road trip.

How to Save when Booking an RV

Thursday, October 10th, 2019

Keeping costs down during your vacation can be important. We’ve put together some great cost-saving tips to make your next road trip one for the books. Get a discount RV rental because renting an RV doesn’t have to break the bank.

When to book:
Most special’s for discount RV’s happen in the first few months of the year. Between January and March are the best times to book one-way rentals and get the best early booking discounts.

When to travel:
High season starts from about mid-June to mid-September. If you can avoid traveling during this time you can get a cheaper RV rental.

Size of RV:
When choosing which RV to book consider traveling in a smaller RV. Most of your time will be spent driving or exploring the area you are visiting, not sitting in the RV. A smaller RV will also save you gas. Check out some tips for maximizing RV gas mileage.

Bring your own meals:
Most RV’s come equipped with a kitchen. Bring your own meals to cook so you save money on eating at restaurants. Plus we always think that camp food is some of the best food out there.

Research parks or campgrounds:
It’s always a great idea to research the parks and campgrounds you plan to attend. Read reviews, check on costs, and how far the experiences you want to see are from where you will be parking. A little pre-planning goes a long way when you are trying to budget your RV rental road trip.

And last but not least. Remember to have fun! Enjoy the sights, experience the most, and the cost of your RV will feel discounted because it’ll be worth the experience.

Nevada RV Rentals

Thursday, October 10th, 2019

Nevada RV Rentals are is a great way to see the state. Pick up an RV in Las Vegas, Henderson, or Reno, and let’s go.

When we think of traveling in an RV through Nevada we all think of visiting the Las Vegas Strip and the Grand Canyon, but let’s look outside the box and see what other treasures are to be found when traveling in a Nevada RV rental.

Neon Boneyard

Las Vegas Nevada is known for its bright lights and its neon signs. What happens to those signs when they are no longer being used? Well, they go to the Neon Boneyard of course. This 3-acre lot contains over 150 decommissioned signs from Las Vegas’ past, including the original Aladdin’s lamp from Aladdins Casino and the original sign from the Golden Nugget. Tours are available daily and try to go at night so that you can see some of the old signs lit up.

Fly Geyser

Atlas Obscura says it best the Fly Geyser is a collision of human error and natural geothermic pressure resulted in the rainbow-colored geologic wonder. Off of State Route 34 outside of Gerlach Nevada nearly 100 years ago a well was drilled looking to provide water for farming. The water that appeared from this well was nearly 200 degrees, obviously not suitable for farming this well was just left. What formed was a 12-foot cone of calcium carbonate. The red and green coloring of the geyser is caused by thermophilic algae making these mineral structures breathtaking. With a Nevada RV rental, you can drive out to the geyser.

Area 51

Area 51 is located in Lincoln County Nevada. This famous top-secret military testing facility is rumored to be home to aliens and their spaceships. You will not get into Area 51, the closest you will get is to a no trespassing sign. It would make a great story though if you and your Nevada RV rental had to be escorted from the area by armed guards. (USA RV Rentals in no way endorses this behaviour:)

Rhyolite Ghost Town

Rhyolite Ghost Town is located 6 miles west of Beatty Nevada. In 1905 in the middle of a gold rush, this town grew to 1500 people. The town boasted a 3 story building, a school for 250 children, hotels, stores, and even an ice plant. 11 years later the lights were turned out and now the only things left were the ruins of a few old buildings.

Forest of the Last Church

Visit the International Forest of the Last Church. Over 40 automobiles, including cars, trucks, and vans are scattered around stacked on one another and balanced on their ends. These vehicles have been painted by two artists whose vision was to create a place for people to get out and explore while speaking out against organized religion. You can drive out to Goldfield Nevada in your RV and take your time looking at this exhibit.

Bristlecone Pines

How about a stop at the Bristlecone Pines of the Great Basin. These trees are the oldest in the world. One tree names Methuselah is almost 5000 years old.

There is so much to see and do in Nevada. So rent an RV and let your next Nevada road trip begin.
