No trip to Arizona is complete without a stop at the Grand Canyon. Peer down into the mile-deep river bed as you take in the jagged rocks and the amazing colors of the earth. Whether you want to take a trip down the river, do some backcountry hiking or see the canyon from high overhead there is a tour available for you.

The Phoenix Zoo has been rated as one of the top five zoos in the United States for kids. Get up close and personal with a giraffe. At the Phoenix Zoo, you can actually climb up and feed the giraffes, how cool. How about a ride on a camel? Or pet and feed a stingray? Monkey village allows you to get in the cage with the monkeys. Walkthrough the exhibit of squirrel monkeys as they scamper just inches away from you. You can also hop on the Safari Train and let your tour guide tell you interesting things about the exhibits you pass or take a ride on the Endangered Species Carousel. No wonder this zoo is in the top five.

Plan a visit to the Desert Botanical Gardens, wind your way through the peaceful scenic trails or take a guided tour to learn more about the beauty that surrounds you. The Gardens are open from 7 am to 8 pm so depending on the time of year you could even take in a sunrise or a sunset, what a beautiful way to start or end the day.

Castles n’ Coasters offers fun and excitement to kids of all ages. If you like the high adrenaline of riding the rails of a roller coaster try Desert Storm. In for something a little more physically challenging try On The Ropes, the 3 story obstacle course lets you test your skills and courage and lets you compete with your friends and family. I think the bumper boats and the mini-golf might be more my speed.

The Phoenix International Raceway currently hosts two NASCAR race weekends annually. Stay right in the action in an RV so you don’t miss a thing. Even if you are not a NASCAR fan there is nothing like seeing this event live, the energy here is contagious.

Fort Lauderdale Beaches

Wednesday, July 10th, 2013

Ft Lauderdale has some of the best beaches in the world. If you are looking for a beach where you can sit back and let the sand run through your toes, or if the adventure of catching a wave is what gets your heart pounding the beaches of Ft Lauderdale are not going to disappoint you.

For a family-friendly beach, Deerfield Beach is a favorite. There are nine lifeguards on duty 365 days a year from 9 am – 5 pm. Alcohol is not allowed on the beach and either is any glass containers, making this beach safe for little ones in bare feet. Surfing and bodyboards are permitting put only in certain areas of the beach, and the same goes for any ball or Frisbee games.

Dania Beach may be one of the least crowded beaches but it has some of the most magnificent scenery in the area. If visiting this beach you will need to eat at the Dania Beach Bar and Grill. Eat right on the pier with water as far as the eye can see. The high rises behind you remind you how close you really are to the city from your little piece of paradise.

Visit Hollywood Beach, this beach boast 7 miles of beautiful sandy beaches, 2.5 miles of paved trail, an array of restaurants from casual burger, and pizza joints to international cuisine. The boardwalk is a great place to eat as it allows for some of the best people-watching around. The locals rave about Josh’s Organic Garden which opens onto the boardwalk every Sunday which is a great place to stock up on picnic-ready items. The coral reefs in the area allow you to get close up with nature as you snorkel through the reefs looking for local residents. The Hollywood Beach Theatre has live music 5 nights a week, but watch out for the turtles, if you are lucky you may be able to watch the sea turtles hatch right on the beach.

Fort Lauderdale Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches around, the turquoise water and the palm trees that sway in the wind who could ask for more. But there is more, cute boutiques, quaint restaurants, and a water sport for everyone.

Tours of this hall run daily, led by a National Park Service Ranger. The market place is still alive with excitement, there is a store selling most everything, from clothing, eyewear, jewelry, to luggage, bath supplies, house wear. There is something for everyone. My favorite part of these markets are the street performers, there are lots of bands, jugglers, magicians, and there are some things that words cannot describe.
