Thursday, October 10th, 2019

Nevada is the perfect place for a road trip. From the Grand Canyon to the Hover Dam and everything in between. Las Vegas offers so much for the RV enthusiast as well. It’s not all about hotels. Staying in Vegas in an RV offers up a whole different world. So we’ve put together our favorite places to stay and do for the ultimate Las Vegas RV road trip. Plus with camping access near Las Vegas means that you’ll have quick access to the Strip and the outdoors like Red Rock Canyon or Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

With temperatures in the low 60s and over 300 days of sunshine, the weather is prime for camping, five-start dining, world-class shows, endless slot machines, and an early afternoon tennis match or two. The options are up to you.

Where to stay:

Check out the app The Dyrt. They have the most campgrounds in a camping app and make it easy for you to find what you’re looking for.

For walkability to the strip: The Circus Circus RV Park
If you’re looking to stay right on the strip during your road trip, look no further then the Circus Circus RV Park located right on Las Vegas Blvd. Amenities include grass, patios, free wifi, and more.

For a luxury full-service experience: The Oasis Las Vegas RV Resort
For something a little bit of luxury the Oasis offers a concierge service to help you book tickets, tours, reservations, and more. Sites can come with decorative fencing, BBQ pits, and grassy spaces.

For on-site entertainment: Las Vegas KOA at Sam’s Town
With bowling lanes, big screen theatre, restaurants, buffets and so much more. After you’ve had your fill of Sam’s Town catch a free shuttle down to the strip.

For something simple and affordable: Arizona Charlie’s Casino East RV Park
Just 7 miles from the Las Vegas Strip. The park was recently renovated and is just walking distance from a casino, restaurants, gambling, and swimming pools to cool off.

Chicago to Las Vegas Road Trip on Route 66

Route 66 from Chicago to Las Vegas is an iconic road trip route taking you through a world that has been left behind. This trip is worth putting on your bucket list. So rent an RV and start the drive!

Chicago
Between Cloud Gate, Navy Pier, and the Lake Michigan shore line the windy city has loads to offer and is a great starting point to this great road trip. Historic Route 66 awaits.

Springfield
Route 66 signs are well marked heading from Chicago to Springfield. The Lincoln Presidential Museum, Lincoln Home, and Abraham Lincoln’s Tomb can all be found downtown Springfield and is a great stop.

Meramec Caverns
Missouri holds one of the greatest of the old Route 66 tourist attractions – the Meramec Caverns. Guided tours of these extensive limestone caves are well worth the stop. Tours are just over an hour long.

Tulsa
If museums are your thing, Tulsa’s Philbrook Museum hosts a vast art museum in an Italian style villa with exhibits from around the world surrounded by acres of lush gardens.

New Mexico
New Mexico boasts the mother of all road attractions including Cadillac Ranch, Midpoint Cafe, and the Route 66 Auto Museum in Santa Rosa. If you’re in need of a big break, stop in Albuquerque for an air balloon ride.

A quick stop to see the Petrified Forest National Park and the Meteor Crater is a must. An even further detour to El Morro to see the signatures of road trippers from past centuries.

Las Vegas

Class C RV Rentals

Tuesday, February 7th, 2017

Class C RVs are the most common type of RV. Class C RV’s are characterized by the large bed directly over the driver’s cabin. Class C’s are available in many sizes. I have seen them as small as 22’ and as larger are 35’. These motorhomes tend to sleep more people than a similar sized Class A as you get that extra bed over the driver. Most Class C RVs allow you to walk from the driver’s area into the cabin of the RV, but I have seen exceptions to this, so it is always good to ask before you rent the RV if this is important to you. This RV will tend to be a little easier to drive compared to a Class A motorhome because the wheelbase is much more similar to regular passenger vehicles. In the end, this is the most popular type of RV simply because of the extra sleeping space that it provides. Class C RV’s can be rented from almost any major city across the US including, Phoenix (PHX), Los Angeles (LAX), Chicago (ORD) San Francisco (SFO), Denver (DEN), Boston (BOS) Miami (MIA), Orlando (MCO), Ft Lauderdale (FLL) Las Vegas (LAS), RENO (RNO), New York City (NYC), Dallas (DFW), Salt Lake City (SLC), and Seattle (SEA).
