Universal Studios Hollywood offers behind the scene tours looking at how special effects are made and other movie-making techniques. Rides and attractions are based on movies produced by Universal Studios. Check out Jurassic Park or Transformers – The Ride, or the Studio Tour which is 13 city blocks of sets from Wisteria Lane to the Bates Motel.

Pacific Park is an amusement park located on the Santa Monica Pier, ride the Ferris wheel to see the spectacular view of the Santa Monica Bay, the Pacific Ocean, the city, and Venice Beach.

I don’t need to mention Disneyland, but I will. Themed attractions, amusement rides, and of course Mickey Mouse, plan on spending a couple of days at the happiest place on earth.

Raging Waters is the west coast’s largest water park. This park boasts 50 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds, 36 rides and attractions, and a sandy beach.

Knott’s Berry Farm is a themed attraction and amusement park based on the Peanut characters. This farm, once an actual berry farm, is a great stop for families, especially those with young children as Camp Snoopy is geared towards younger children.

Los Angeles – About the City

Geography

Los Angeles hosts a wide variety of geographic landscapes. While Los Angeles is mostly a desert basin, it is also surrounded by the San Gabriel Mountain range and split by the Santa Monica Mountains. This makes for some great hiking and mountain biking terrain. LA also has over 75 miles of coastline along the Pacific Ocean with some of the best surfing in the world, but don’t worry if you are not a seasoned pro when it comes to surfing there are lots of mellow waves to test out.

Weather

Los Angeles boasts 292 days of sunshine, that fact alone makes Los Angeles a top destination on my list. With an average high of 75 degrees and an average low of 57 degrees, there is no wrong season to visit Los Angeles. The average yearly rainfall in Los Angeles is 15 inches.

Multicultural LA

Los Angeles is one of the most culturally diverse cities in the world, being one of only two cities in the US without a majority population. Boyle Heights is a must-stop for Mexican food with a predominately Hispanic/Latino culture. Chinatown has something for everyone, great food, farmers’ markets, galleries, and walking tours. Try the “Undiscovered Chinatown” tour to uncover history, treasures, and great shopping. Little Tokyo is home to the Japanese American National Museum and the Nisei Week festival. Leimert Park is the African-American cultural mecca of Los Angeles, stop to visit the art galleries and the eateries. Koreatown host the highest concentration of restaurants and nightlife in all of Southern California. From dive bars to high-end cocktail lounges Koreatown is a city that never sleeps.
