Prepping for your Pet Friendly RV Adventure

Trip to the Vet

Make sure all your pets vaccinations are up to date. Some RV campgrounds may ask to see vaccination records. Read up on the government requirements here.

Get a printed copy of your pet’s medical records and make sure you keep them on you while traveling!

Trip to the Pet Store

Get an id collar with your contact information. In the case of separation from your pet, you will be easily contacted.

What to Bring:

Leashes: You will want a long leash to tie up on your site at RV parks. Also, for walking in most RV parks dogs will need to be on a leash.

Pack a hose or bucket: This exciting adventure means lots of dirt, mud, and sand for your pet. Prepare yourself to give a couple of doggie baths on your road trip.  And, don’t forget to pack the doggy soap and towel!

Dog Food: If your dog is a picky eater make sure you pack some food for them, not all dog food is universal nationwide.

Lastly, don’t forget the poop bags, food and water bowls. Also, add a little extra comfort with their bed from home.

Pet Safety

Temperature: just like your vehicle, the inside of the RV will get too hot or cold for your pet.

While driving the RV don’t let your pet roam free. In case of an accident, they could get seriously injured. Consider, putting your pet in a kennel or look into dog car seat harness (it’s like a seatbelt for your dog).

But, stop at those beaches, forests and desserts and get out and stretch the legs. As a bonus, you never you what adventure you and your pet will encounter!

Denver – Local Attractions

Wednesday, June 5th, 2013

The Denver Zoo is open every day of the year and is home to nearly 4,000 animals representing 700 species including the incredibly rare okapi, the red-bellied lemur, the Amur leopard, the black rhino and the Siberian tiger. The Denver Zoo, which is located just 5 minutes from downtown Denver covers over 80 acres and is located in Denver’s historic City Park. Come visit Mshindi, the resident Rhinoceros and artist. Mshindi paints with a paintbrush, his work can be viewed in the Pachyderm House.

Visit the Denver Art Museum on the first Saturday of every month to receive free admission. The museum is located at 100 West 14th Ave Pkwy, Denver, CO  80204. Stop by the Museum Shop and pick up a gift for someone back home or shop for yourself.

See the Downtown Aquarium, an UnderWater Adventure, while in Denver. The mythical mermaids will entertain you with their choreographed numbers put to music while you learn the importance of taking care of the environment. All of the exhibits look interesting, go see Under the Sea, At the Wharf, The Rain Forest, or Sunken Temple. You can even watch Heran the Tiger complete a training session. Make this one a meal stop as you can dine in front of a 50,000-gallon floor to ceiling aquarium.

When you are looking for a slower-paced day remember the Denver Botanic Gardens. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the themed gardens or go on a wildflower hike, or even visit a historical farm. Denver Botanic Gardens has guided and self-guided tours depending on your preference. The Mordecai Children’s Garden allows you and your child to explore how plants and animals live together on Marmot Mountain or race pine cones down Springmelt Stream. They could even hunt for bugs in the Glorious Grasslands or watch the aquatic life at Pipsqueak Pond.

Elitch Gardens has something for everyone. Family shows such as Cirque Conjure combine illusion, music, dance, and comedy in their uniquely created shows. Take a trip through time in Doc Hall’s Old Time Photo, or stop by EG Ink and get yourself some body art. Miss Mary’s Confectionary, features hundreds of different kinds of candies, cookies, and caramel apples. Oh, did I mention that there is also a theme park and waterpark at Elitch Gardens? Do you like rides that make your heart pound? Try the scary Boomerang Steele Coaster or the spinning Half Pike. Like it a little slower? You can ride the carousel or fly on dragon wings. Even slower? Watch while the kids race in a hot air balloon or captain their own boat at Ding Dong Dock. Now it’s time to cool off and enjoy the water. Slide down the 64’ Acapulco Cliff Dive or ride a raft down Castaway Creek. Elitch Gardens is a great way to spend the day.

Rent an RV and tour Colorado, “The Centennial State”. If you’re the kind of RV renter that truly enjoys a breath of fresh air, make it a Colorado RV rental this year.

Enjoy the natural beauty you will see from your Colorado RV rental because Colorado contains 18 million acres of State and National Parks, forests, and monuments. Colorado is famous for the majestic mountains that reside there and that’s why Colorado has world-class ski resorts that are flocked to every year by Colorado RV renters. During your RV vacation, you may want to visit one of Colorado’s many wineries and breweries or check out a modern art museum. For a night out of the RV, Colorado also has several casinos. If you have children, there are plenty of places you could park your Colorado RV rental. Take the family to explore caverns, get on some rides at an amusement park, see the Night Show at Red Rocks Amphitheater, walkthrough ghost towns, sit in a natural hot spring, view dramatic canyons and waterfalls, rafting, or attend a theatrical play.

Colorado is also a choice state for traveling in your RV rental. You will be driving your Colorado RV rental through winding mountain passes while raging rivers, exhilarating canyons, and green meadows covered in wildflowers surround you.

Take your Colorado RV rental to Boulder, the “#1 Sports Town”. Boulder, Colorado is 35 miles northwest of downtown Denver and is nestled into the Rocky Mountains. Boulder has about 30,000 acres of open space and 200 miles of public trails. The Boulder Creek Path runs straight through town. Boulder, Colorado is definitely a fantastic RV rental vacation spot for those who are feeling active.
